Automatic tracking

Updated October 24, 2026

With an active license ParcelKite Cloud follows every open parcel for you and updates the order – no carrier accounts or API keys needed. Each new parcel uses one tracking credit from your plan’s monthly parcels.

Where the information comes from

ParcelKite Cloud (parcelkite.com) looks every parcel up for you – your store never contacts the tracking services itself. It follows parcels through:

  • Cainiao global tracking – a global logistics network that also sees many international carriers: Cainiao, China Post, YunExpress, 4PX, Yanwen and most other Asian shippers, and many of the carriers they hand parcels to.
  • CJPacket – for CJPacket parcels, including CJ orders shipped with other carriers’ numbers (USPS, YunExpress …).

Only tracking numbers and carriers are sent – never names, addresses, emails or phone numbers. A number is looked up once for every store that ships it, and when a tracking source changes something, the fix reaches every store at once. Parcels the Cloud can’t see keep working with the carrier’s tracking link. If the Cloud can’t be reached for a moment, parcels are simply checked again a little later.

Tracking credits

ParcelKite ▸ Shipments shows your tracking credits: how many are left this month, how many are used and when they renew (the 1st of each month). Credits are shared by all sites on your license. The same panel shows the parcels started on this site, the parcels being followed, deliveries this month, the average delivery time and parcels with a problem. When credits run out, new parcels keep their tracking link and start automatically when credits renew or right after an upgrade.

How often parcels are checked

Every 2 hours while out for delivery, every 6–8 hours otherwise, and not at all once delivered. When the parcel reaches the destination carrier, its local tracking number is shown too.

What happens automatically

  • Customers get the matching shipment email (see Customer emails & SMS).
  • The order is set to Delivered when every parcel has arrived.
  • A daily report lists late parcels and delivery problems.
  • ParcelKite ▸ Shipments shows every parcel with status counts, late shipments, search and a “check now” button.

You can switch automatic tracking off under ParcelKite ▸ Settings ▸ Automatic tracking.
